We’re looking for motivated and enthusiastic Band 4 Associate Practitioners (AP) to join University Hospital Southampton on a Fix Term contract until  December 2021. The ideal candidate will have experience of working in a laboratory environment, and would be able to start in December 2020  or January 2021. 

WHAT YOU'LL DO 

• You’ll work as part of the laboratory team, providing a high level of microbiological analysis in order to provide patients with the highest level of diagnosis.
• Be responsible as necessary for the efficient day-to-day running of an area in a section of the laboratory
• Support Biomedical Support Workers and inexperienced Associate practitioner
• The role will include running a variety of basic technical assays
• Maintaining laboratory equipment
• Communicating with service users
• Completing pre-analytical tasks
• You will be required to work shifts on earlies, evenings, weekends, and public holidays as rostered.
• There may be occasions where you will be asked to work a night shift due to work loads

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR  

• Someone who is able to communicate well with staff in the department and service users
• You must be able to plan and use your own time economically and effectively
• A high degree of motivation and enthusiasm is essential for the role
• A working knowledge of laboratory areas is desirable however not essential
