A 12 month secondment or fixed term position covering maternity leave has arisen for a Patient Pathway Coordinator at the Princess Anne Hospital, to support the administrative work for the Gynaecology Oncology service within Women & Newborn.
An understanding of the NHS is essential, together with advanced IT skills, proven experience of using a word processing package and excellent keyboard skills.
This is an area of high activity, good communication, organisation skills and the ability to prioritise your workload are essential for this role. You will need to have an accurate and systematic approach to your work and attention to detail. Effective communication skills are crucial as you will liaise with a variety of people including the general public and hospital staff. The ability to work either alone or cooperatively in a team environment are key to this role.
You will be required to have a good level of education and have some experience and knowledge of the NHS. The successful post holder will be expected to cover colleagues in times of sickness and annual leave across our services.
We are a friendly and supportive team dedicated to the service and patients we come into contact with daily. The team is part of a valuable part of the patient’s journey and are in regular communication with our patients and an asset to our service.
Princess Anne cares for expectant mothers, as well as providing care and treatment for other specialities including Fertility, Fetal medicine, Oncology, Breast and Gynaecology. This role is to support the Gynaecology oncology service.
We are looking for 37.5 hours per week over 5 days
The shift pattern is weekly 8-4pm and 9-5pm and you will be required to cover both shifts, the working days will be a Monday to Friday.
You will be responsible for all elements of administration of the patient journey, from clinic letter production to managing appointments for theatre admissions and out patience. Liaising closely with consultants and other clinical team members to ensure the smooth running of the admin functions. Confidentiality and a willingness to learn is essential
You will need to be able to work in a calm, logical and methodical way but be able to multi-task whilst dealing with frequent interruptions, and you must possess effective communication skills. You must be confident, diplomatic and able to work in a busy environment with a pleasant disposition.
The role is varied and busy and you will need to have a flexible approach to a demanding workload with changing priorities.
Be someone who is committed to learn and develop. You will need to demonstrate compassion, patience and calmness with good communication skills. Due to the nature of this role a high level of organisation is essential.
