University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) is leading an exciting digital programme to transform maternity services across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. We are looking for an experienced senior change manager to champion and coordinate the business change element of this transformation and to help each Trust realise benefits following the delivery of a new region-wide, digital maternity system.
This role is offered on a full time (37.5 hours per week) and fixed term contract, for two years.
You will be mainly based at Southampton General Hospital within the Transformation team but as a key member of the wider Hampshire and Isle of Wight digital maternity team. You will also work with midwives, doctors, maternity administrators, IT professionals and project managers from across the region. This exciting programme is forging a new way of working across the region – joint procurement and delivery of shared digital services across several Trusts – your role will be at the heart of harnessing the benefits of this way of working.
As the transformation programme lead for the digital maternity programme, you will champion the transformational benefits that the delivery of a new, region-wide digital maternity system will enable. You will support the four maternity services across the region to realise benefits, share good practice and identify ways to further improve their service whilst encouraging closer collaboration across the region. You will use service improvement techniques to help embed these new digital capabilities and facilitate the changes that will fully exploit these technologies. This vital role will help raise the programme from simply delivering a new IT system to transforming maternity services as envisioned in the national Maternity Transformation Programme.
You will have strong leadership and communication skills and be able to comfortably engage with midwives, IT staff, analysts and managers with credible background knowledge of the maternity environment. You will already have a good understanding of service improvement techniques and be able to use them to help maternity services identify and deliver improvements. Although you will not be responsible for the delivery of the technical elements of the programme, you will have a good understanding of the opportunities offered by exploiting digital tools. In this large scale change programme, you will be skilled at engaging others, building up a wide support network and supporting multiple simultaneous change initiatives at different Trusts.
As one of the largest acute teaching Trust’s in England, we can offer learning and development opportunities to help you achieve the career you aspire to. As a Trust, we support flexible working and will consider requests taking into account the needs of the service. You’ll have an opportunity to discuss this at interview. Our LiveWell and inspire programme offers opportunities, support and advice, including smoking cessation services, exercise and activity classes, and support for mental health.
