Want to specialise within Cystic Fibrosis and work within a highly respected and established team? Then this job is for you!

We are looking for a highly skilled and dynamic Physiotherapist to provide senior clinical and operational leadership alongside Physiotherapists in the Wessex Adult cystic fibrosis service and Occupational therapists in the wider therapy team. This fixed term 12 month post offers an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to develop clinical and managerial skills within this speciality and oversee the development of others.

This post holder, along with existing staff, will be based within Southampton General Hospital but will also be required to work off site undertaking admission prevention, individual support within homes or nearer a patients geographical locality. The successful applicant should have relevant postgraduate respiratory/Cystic Fibrosis clinical experience with a desire to develop their knowledge and skills in the care of Cystic Fibrosis patients with a wide range of pathologies. Excellent support will be given towards continual learning and professional development.

This role involves working closely with our regional multi-professional Cystic Fibrosis team and is supported by a Clinical Specialist in Cystic Fibrosis. Your clinical remit would involve the treatment of both acute inpatients and outpatients attending our multi-professional Cystic fibrosis clinics and working in the community. Attendance at regional meetings may also be required.

The post holder will be expected to lead the therapy team in the absence of the Band 8, be involved in the teaching programme, service development, student supervision and the development of Band 4-6 therapy staff. All staff are expected to work flexibly to support a 7-day service.

The post holder will be expected to engage in research, as well as regular clinical audits, and maintain up to date skills and knowledge in order to implement evidence based practice. The role will require teaching undergraduate students, as well as providing specialist advice to colleagues.

The Wessex Adult Cystic Fibrosis service cares for approximately 280 adults with CF. Southampton is a vibrant city, close to beautiful coastline, the New Forest and is within easy reach of London.

The successful applicant would be expected to work at weekends within all fields of Medicine and be rostered on the Physiotherapy Respiratory On-call and twilight rota, working across the acute wards at UHS on a rota basis.
