University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) is one of Europe’s largest teaching hospitals, a designated major trauma centre and a regional centre for Cancer Care covering southern England and the Channel Islands.

We are looking for an experienced Occupational Therapist (OT) who would be keen to take on the challenge of developing OT roles within our regional cancer centre, alongside the established therapy teams.

The successful applicant would treat patients undergoing radiotherapy, chemotherapy and bone marrow transplants for haematology malignancies. There is scope to develop OT services within the teenage young adult centre, which is one of only twelve centres in the UK

The role also involves complex discharge planning for patients nearing the end of life together with the development of appropriate links between hospital, hospice and living at home and also lifestyle management through holistic and individualised assessment.

The successful applicants should have a broad range of relevant postgraduate experience ideally within cancer care and in the management of complex caseloads.

Excellent support will be given towards continual learning and professional and personal development by the established therapy teams. The post holders would also be encouraged to undertake audit and research and will participate in in-service training programmes, student supervision and the development of band 2-5 therapy staff.

All staff are expected to work flexibly to support a 7 day service in order to maximise patient care.
