UHS are looking for Operating Department Practitioners to join the Theatres department.
We would like to hear from student ODPs due to graduate this year who are looking for an exciting and varied career providing specialist patient care in one of the South coasts busiest hospitals
We have 29 operating theatres on one site. You will be working within multiple specialities including Orthopaedics, ENT and Max Fac, Thoracic, HPB, Urology, Vascular, Cardiac and Neurosurgery. 6 of our theatres offer many of these services to children of all ages as part of our dedicated Childrens Hospital. During 2021 we will expand into 4 further theatres including a hybrid MRI / theatre.
The anaesthetic team also cover services external to theTheatre Department; these include Interventional Radiology, CT, MRI, Cardiac Catheter Labs, Neuro Angiography and Thrombectomy suite.
We are a Major Trauma Centre; we include this in our support for 24 hour emergency patient pathways

WHAT YOU’LL DO
You will join our Preceptorship programme to guide your steps from student to confident anaesthetic practitioner
You will rotate through our departments many different specialities, initially working under supervision as your skills and confidence develop
You will work alongside our Medical Anaesthetic colleagues providing care for patients across elective and emergency pathways
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
As a newly qualified Operating Department Practitioner, you’ll have the qualification relevant to your registration with the HCPC. We will give you post-registration experience and support to put this into practice.
You will use your excellent communication skills when caring for patients and within the multi-disciplinary team
As a team player you will work closely with colleagues from the scrub and recovery teams to provide excellence in patient care.
To support 24 hour emergency patient pathways you will join our roster covering a variety of day, evening and night shifts on week days and weekends
