We have an exciting opportunity for a theatre practitioner to join our specialist team at Princess Anne Hospital, an integral part of University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS). We have four theatres specialising in obstetrics, gynaecology and breast surgery. We do a small amount of colorectal surgery. One of our main focuses is laparoscopic surgery and its advancements, our consultants regularly host laparoscopic training days. Breast reconstruction surgery is also of special interest to our breast surgeons.
We are looking for a highly motivated theatre practitioner with good leading and communication skills to join our enthusiastic team. Proficiency in both anaesthetics and surgery would be an advantage. As we cover a 24 hour service a fully flexible approach to shifts is required. We are a teaching hospital and have a large number of students coming through our department so we would expect you to provide and encourage a welcoming learning environment.
We will offer opportunities to advance your skills through courses and in-house training.
Southampton is an attractive place to live and work situated on the south coast, with an international airport and only an hour on the train from central London. The New Forest National Park and the beaches of the Jurassic coast are also right on our doorstep.
The city offers living costs 20% lower than those in London, 13 schools rated outstanding by Ofsted and 13 nearby green spaces to enjoy.
University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is one of England's largest acute teaching trusts. We've been rated ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission and in the national NHS Staff Survey we ranked seventh in the country for staff engagement and fourth best nationally for our proportion of staff saying that they would recommend the hospital as a place to work or to receive care.
