An exciting secondment opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and motivated registered nurse to join our Integrated COPD Nursing Team.

This is an ideal opportunity for those who want to further enhance their specialist nursing knowledge and skills within a supportive environment.

The post holder will:

  • will ideally have experience of supporting patients with chronic disease within primary and secondary care
  • will need to be adaptable and flexible and work in varied environments across organisational boundaries

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust provides services to some 1.9 million people living in Southampton and south Hampshire.

The Integrated COPD Team provides specialist evidenced based care and support for patients with COPD within the acute hospital setting and on-going support, monitoring and education within their homes to promote independence to manage their disease within primary care.

As a Respiratory Specialist Nurse within the Integrated COPD team you will be expected to have excellent communication skills, promote the delivery of a high standard of patient-centred care and work between organisational boundaries. With the support of the Senior Sister you will analyse, monitor and implement actions that ensure the service delivery is safe and effective in line with the Trust values.

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) is one of England's largest acute teaching trusts. We've recently been rated ‘Good’ by the CQC and in the latest national NHS Staff Survey we ranked seventh in the country for staff engagement, and fourth best nationally for our proportion of staff saying that they would recommend the hospital as a place to work or to receive care. One of our main objectives has been to become a top ten research trust, with the pharmacy department being an integral part of achieving this.

Southampton is an attractive place to live and work situated on the south coast, with an international airport and only an hour on the train from central London. The New Forest National Park and the beaches of the Jurassic coast are also right on our doorstep.

The city offers living costs 20% lower than those in London, 13 schools rated outstanding by Ofsted and 13 nearby green spaces to enjoy.

A job share/ part time hours may be considered, please get in contact with us for an informal discussion.
