Do you want to be part of friendly, close-knit team providing superb standards of childcare?

Do you love nothing more than seeing a child progress, knowing that you’ve played a key part in their development? Are you hardworking, friendly and dependable – and looking for your next challenge?

We’re looking for people to join our Taplins nurseries team and if you think you’d fit in, we’d love to hear from you!

About the role:

Our nursery staff care for children aged 3 months to 5 years, planning and carrying out activities in line with the Early Years’ curriculum. They are also responsible for evaluating the activities, and for maintaining online learning journals via Tapestry.

About you:

  • You need to have a great sense of fun, be confident and adaptable, and have a passion for working in an Early Years setting
  • You also need to be great at liaising with parents/carers and we’re particularly looking for proactive people with brilliant ideas to help us continuously improve our services
  • All candidates need to be over the age of 17 years and DBS (formerly CRB) and OFSTED checks will be required

Qualifications:

We ask that all our nursery staff have GCSEs in Maths and English at grade C or above (or a willingness to study towards it with our support).

Experience:

We ask that all our nursery staff have an understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage and safeguarding, with demonstrable previous Early Years’ experience.

This could be work experience or paid work in a nursery for example, but unfortunately we cannot accept applications from people whose only experience of childcare is in an informal setting, such as babysitting.

Hours and location:

We have full time and part time opportunities at both our hospital sites (Western Community Hospital/ Southampton General Hospital).

Our working hours are between 7am and 6.30pm, so you need to be flexible to work shift patterns within these hours.

We offer:

Taplins nurseries are owned and managed by University Hospitals Southampton NHS Foundation Trust and all employees receive standard NHS terms and conditions including:

  • Competitive salary (£17 460- £18 702/pro rata) & benefits
  • 27 days annual leave (plus bank holidays) rising to 33 days with long service
  • Full sick pay (for a limited period and increasing with service)
  • Access to the UHS Benefits platform for discounted products and services
  • Salary sacrifice for full childcare costs at either Taplins nursery (saving approx. 25%)
  • Access to further training & development
  • UHS was ranked in the top 10 of acute hospital employers in England in the most recent NHS National Staff Survey

Closing date for applications Friday 19 October.
