We are currently looking to recruit a trainee (band 5 with progression to band 6) nurse practitioner in the speciality of stroke.  For the right candidate we will offer a tailored training programme, including an MSc in advanced clinical practice (standard pathway) at the University of Southampton.

There is a robust competency program in place set within the DOH guidelines for advanced practice.

You will become a member of a growing team of committed practitioners in an evolving service and through mentorship develop a leading role in the delivery of acute stroke pathways including thrombolysis.  You will work as part of a wider MDT but develop your own autonomy in practice within a protective environment.

The role encompasses the whole stroke pathway including hyper acute, acute and rehab services where you will have a vital role in the assessment of patients and develop decision making skills to ensure high quality evidence based care. You will be supported on the hyper acute stroke unit for the first 6 months to gain knowledge and skills in acute stroke, whilst also completing your physical assessment module.

You will work as a specialist in the stroke service offering advice and support to peers, referring health professionals, patients and their families and work across traditional boundaries in care.

If you are looking for an exciting opportunity with career progression in a clinically focused role then we would very much like to hear from you.

Informal visits are encouraged.
