We are looking for a dynamic, energetic and enthusiastic individual with a mature, responsible and flexible outlook to join our busy and challenging department. You should have a caring, courteous manner with a thorough understanding of good customer service skills. The role is varied and busy and you will need to have a flexible approach to a demanding work load with changing priorities.

An opportunity has arisen for a patient pathway co-ordinator (medical secretary) so if you have the organisational skills to keep a busy professional environment running smoothly, then we would love to hear from you. You will be proficient in Microsoft Office and have excellent communication skills. Your ability to prioritise and multi-task should be second to none and include excellent diary and office management skills.

You must be educated to GCSE standard to include English Language and possess at least RSA II typing certificate or equivalent. Previous experience with software packages would be an advantage and knowledge of medical terminology is desirable but not essential as training will be provided. You must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and should be able to integrate well with the existing teams, be flexible in supporting the functions of the unit and have a genuine desire to contribute to providing a quality service for patients.  You will need to comply with the 18wk targets, monitor 18wks performance and you will be required to liaise with patients, GP’s and hospital staff.

You will be expected to organise your workload with the Consultants and their team and co-ordinate their activities with other medical secretaries to ensure that an efficient service is provided and providing cover for colleagues as necessary.

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) is one of England's largest acute teaching trusts. We've recently been rated ‘Good’ by the CQC and in the latest national NHS Staff Survey we ranked seventh in the country for staff engagement, and fourth best nationally for our proportion of staff saying that they would recommend the hospital as a place to work or to receive care.

Closing date for applications will be Wednesday 20 February.

Interviews for this position will take place on Wednesday 27 February.
