University Hospitals NHS Trust invites online applications for the position of Consultant Surgeon in spinal surgery.

ABOUT THE TEAM

Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust provides services to some 1.3 million people living in Southampton and south Hampshire, plus specialist services to more than 3 million people in central southern England and the Channel Islands. The Trust was designated as a Major Trauma centre from 2012.

The spinal service sits as a separate business unit within the division of Trauma and Specialist services. It has its own ward facilities, OP clinics, advanced nurse practitioner team & Service manager. Junior doctor support comes from both the Orthopaedic and Neurosurgery departments. The service runs its own MDT and business meetings. The on call commitment is 1:8.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

UHS is the Regional Centre for complex spinal surgery and provides a wide range of specialist adult and paediatric services.

This post joins a team of 8 spinal surgeons who provide a combined Neuro / Orthopaedic service across the Wessex region.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Consultant Surgeon in spinal surgery

Applicants should have a CCT or be on the GMC’s Specialist Register. Applicants who are within six months of obtaining their CCT on the date of the interview may also apply.
