We are looking to employ a dynamic person to join our Asthma Service at Southampton General Hospital.  The ideal candidate will be data driven and have  great attention to detail.  You will have excellent communication skills both written and verbal. You will be able to work independently but  under the supervision and guidance of the clinical team.

The ideal candidate will be joining a very hard working team based at Southampton General Hospital. This is a new post within this very busy service.  

Unfortunately there is no flexibility to consider a Job share or part time hours.  The post holder will be required to work Monday- Sunday between the hours of 8am and 8pm. Your normal working week will be Monday- Friday 8am - 4pm.  You may be required to work late or weekends but this will be with prior notice.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Your Responsibilities

  • To Attend all Asthma MDT meetings. This may require being available for an early start, late finish or during lunch times.
  • Responsible for the taking and transcribing of the minutes for all MDT meetings.
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining data bases.
  • Responsible for liaising with the clinical and administrative teams across the departments to produce and circulate asthma MDT meeting lists of patients to be discussed.
  • Educated to A-level, or NVQ Level 3 in Business
  • Administration/Customer Care or equivalent experience
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (including Word and Excel).
  • Previous clerical / admin experience
  • Excellent understanding of Data Protection Rules.
  • Ability to maintain data bases

  • Educated to A-level, or NVQ Level 3 in Business
  • Administration/Customer Care or equivalent experience
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (including Word and Excel).
  • Excellent key board skills
Desirable criteria
  • Courses / further study attended to demonstrate evidence of personal development (not including leadership and management
  • Courses/further study related to leadership and management


Essential criteria
  • Previous clerical / admin experience
  • Experience with working with multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience of dealing with non-routine / complex problems.
  • Significant administrative experience including initiating and maintaining office systems
  • Demonstrable experience in dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
  • Excellent understanding of Data Protection Rules.
  • Excellent understanding of Confidentiality
Desirable criteria
  • Minimum of 1 years management or supervisory experience
  • Proficient in the use of hospital computerised patient systems.
