Applications are invited for a full-time Clinical Fellow in Endoscopy at University Hospital of Southampton (UHS) Endoscopy Unit. This is an exciting opportunity to spend 1 year (extendable to 2 years, by agreement) consolidating diagnostic endoscopic skills with delivery of service GI endoscopy sessions, whilst training to a high level in an advanced endoscopic field to match the candidate’s requirements.

ABOUT THE TEAM

UHS is a large, busy, academic, tertiary referral centre for GI bleeding, cancer and complex endoscopy and as such training is available from experts in complex endoscopic resection (EMR/ESD) and ablation techniques (RFA), or ERCP (including laser lithotripsy and spyglass) and/or diagnostic/therapeutic EUS. These opportunities can be tailored to meet the applicant’s requirements.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

The post includes 5 service endoscopy sessions to consolidate experience and at least 2 specific advanced endoscopy training sessions. UHS Endoscopy unit is a renowned training centre and there is an opportunity to take part in training more junior endoscopists and be trainee faculty on the JAG accredited courses we provide.  There will be opportunity to take part in research and audit.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Applicants must have full registration with the General Medical Council and be eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialty training and have full JAG accreditation in gastroscopy and a minimum of provisional accreditation in colonoscopy. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training. Applicants will be expected to demonstrate their competence to communicate in spoken and written English.
