An exciting opportunity has arisen for a confident and professional individual to join the Research & Development finance team on a fixed term 12 month contract to cover internal secondment. The team provides financial guidance and support to R&D business units and researchers, with income and expenditure of £25m. This includes a large number of commercially and non-commercially funded clinical studies, grants and other income streams.

You will be required to produce monthly financial monitoring reports, highlighting variances to budget, and to meet with budget managers providing advice and guidance and taking necessary relevant action. You will also be monitoring the finances of research studies, ensuring income and expenditure is in line with plan.
In addition, you will have line management responsibilities for 4 x B3 R&D finance assistants, including allocating workload and conducting 121’s.
This is a busy role, in which you will be expected to have excellent communication skills, have a hands on approach and the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines, whilst maintaining attention to detail.
We are looking for finance professional who is fully qualified AAT or part qualified CCAB with experience in working in a financial role. Someone who is energetic, hardworking and enthusiastic, with the ability to provide the highest quality financial support to budget managers and researchers of all levels and abilities. You should be analytical, highly numerate with the ability to work to tight deadlines.
