Respiratory Clinical Research Nursing is an exciting and rewarding patient centred career!

We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic, motivated and experienced nurse with respiratory or research experience. This role will enable you to deliver an excellent standard of clinical care to patients with asthma who are participating in research at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust.

This post involves regular clinical contact with adults volunteering to take part in research that could make a real difference to future patient care and our understanding and treatment of asthma.

Our team is dedicated to providing high quality, patient centred clinical research within a state-of-the-art clinical research facility, located in Southampton General Hospital and across the Trust. The well-being, safety and happiness of the people taking part in our research is at the heart of all we do, as is our confidence that the data we provide is accurate and reproducible.

As a band 6 research sister/charge nurse in the NIHR Southampton biomedical research centre -respiratory theme, you would be responsible for:

  • Manage a team of clinical research staff.
  • Provide specialist research and clinical care to research participants.
  • Manage, coordinate and implement research projects.
  • Support and encourage junior staff in developing expertise and skills in clinical research and other relevant areas.

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) is one of England's largest acute teaching trusts. We've recently been rated ‘Good’ by the CQC and in the latest national NHS Staff Survey we ranked seventh in the country for staff engagement, and fourth best nationally for our proportion of staff saying that they would recommend the hospital as a place to work or to receive care.

If you are a nurse with respiratory or research experience who takes pride and ownership in giving a high standard of patient/participant centred care with great attention to detail and who is interested in a leadership role, this could be a very interesting opportunity for you.

Successful applicants can expect an excellent induction, a friendly working environment, professional support and development opportunities.

Closing date for applications will be Sunday 24 February.
