An opportunity has arisen for an experienced vascular scientist to join our multi-disciplinary team at University Hospital Southampton.

We are based in a teaching hospital which hosts the arterial vascular surgery centre for Southern Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

Southampton is situated centrally on the south coast, is close to the New Forest, Winchester, and the historic dockyard at Portsmouth. We have easy access to excellent shopping facilities, ferry links to the continent and Southampton airport which has a wide range of domestic and international flights.

You will be expected to provide a full range of non-invasive vascular duplex scans. These will include carotid artery, arterial and venous upper and lower limb investigations. The service provides an inpatient, emergency department and GP direct access service.

Ideally we would like a full-time candidate, but a part-time position would be considered for the right candidate, as would appointment to a lower band for a candidate still completing their training. We would also be interested to hear from graduates of the scientist training programme who are working towards SVT Accreditation.

The team comprises of vascular scientists, sonographers and a trainee studying for an MSc. We work with colleagues in a number of clinical areas, including consultants and research partners.

We fully support continuing professional development and encourage staff to attend National meetings including; the Vascular Society of Great Britain & Ireland Annual General Meeting, and the annual British Medical Ultrasound Society conference. There are opportunities for participating in research, teaching, training and to develop additional responsibilities such as audit and improvement projects as you develop your role.

Being a good communicator who recognises and demonstrates our trust values of Patients First, Always Improving and Working together, you will make a significant contribution to patient welfare. In return, you will receive a personalised induction plan, a regular appraisal, and access to a wide range of mandatory and optional training options.
