Online applications are invited to apply for a consultant interventional radiologist commencing as soon as possible. This post is permanent.

The post has been in part created by the centralisation of vascular surgical services to Southampton General Hospital, and as such you will need to demonstrate experience in endovascular aortic intervention, in addition to peripheral vascular intervention, non-vascular intervention and embolotherapy.

The post will be based primarily at Southampton General Hospital and be part of the radiology directorate. Elective IR sessions in Salisbury District General Hospital are currently provided on a rotational basis. Duties will be undertaken in conjunction with consultant colleagues as part of the interventional radiology unit.

In this role, you will be encouraged to develop your area of subspecialist interest in collaboration with colleagues, in addition to providing more general interventional radiology cover as part of the group on a flexible basis. We provide a 24/7 interventional radiology rota as part of a group job plan.

Applicants should have a CCST or be on the GMC’s Specialist Register.  Applicants who are within six months of obtaining their CCST on the date of the AAC may also apply.  Applicants will be expected to demonstrate their competence to communicate in spoken and written English.

If you are interested in applying for this role, we would encourage you to get in touch using the contact information at the bottom of this advert with any questions or if you would like to arrange an informal visit.

ABOUT THE TRUST AND SOUTHAMPTON

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) is one of England's largest acute teaching trusts. We've recently been rated ‘Good’ by the CQC and in the latest national NHS Staff Survey we ranked seventh in the country for staff engagement, and fourth best nationally for our proportion of staff saying that they would recommend the hospital as a place to work or to receive care.

Southampton is an attractive place to live and work situated on the south coast, with an international airport and only an hour on the train from central London. The New Forest National Park and the beaches of the Jurassic coast are also right on our doorstep.

The city offers living costs 20% lower than those in London, 13 schools rated outstanding by Ofsted and 13 nearby green spaces to enjoy.
