We currently have vacancies in the Pharmacy Procurement & Logistics Department at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) for Pharmacy Support Workers. The main function of the role is to supply stock medicines to units and pharmacies inside the hospital and to other areas within the local area. This is a 1 year fixed term contract.
ABOUT THE TEAM
The Pharmacy Logistics Distribution team supports many wards, pharmacies and clinics within UHS and the surrounding areas by providing stock medications. This involves working in ward areas as well as in the pharmacy store. As part of a larger ever expanding pharmacy team we are constantly evolving to meet demand.
The current hours of work are 8.30 - 17.00 for 4 days a week and 10.30 - 19.00 on 1 day with an hour for lunch. Weekend hours are 09.00 – 17.00 with 30 minutes for lunch on either a Saturday or Sunday. Weekend shifts are covered on a rota basis with a commitment to working 1 in 6 weekends. You will be trained in-house gaining competencies in all aspects of pharmacy distribution work. There is provision for some team members to gain an apprenticeship position which is supported in the workplace but is not essential for the role. This is a demanding role primarily based in a store environment. Work on ward areas does not involve patient contact. You will be supported in a training programme and there will be the opportunity to gain a recognised accredited qualification in pharmacy & supply if desired.
