The pharmacy department provides services to all inpatients and some outpatients across two main sites, Southampton General Hospital and the Royal South Hants Hospital. Our pharmacy technicians work and operationally manage many of the pharmacy sections and this role will rotate around 7 of them, each rotation lasting around 4 months giving you a good grounding in hospital pharmacy.
Our rotational pharmacy technicians spend 4 month blocks in a variety of areas including dispensary with medicines management or clinical trials, mental health / outpatient dispensary and aseptic services including CIVAs, parenteral nutrition and oncology.
You will train for additional qualifications such as accredited checking when you have completed the entry requirements (usually takes a minimum of 6 months – 1 year).
We are looking for a qualified pharmacy technician who wants to develop their skills in hospital pharmacy. Applicants that are due to register within six months are welcome to apply.
We are looking for an individual who is committed to delivering excellent patient care, who communicates effectively and works accurately.
