An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Patient Services Centre (PSC) leadership team and we are looking for a highly motivated individual with a minimum of 6 months relevant experience in management and leadership, looking for a new and exciting challenge.

The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues in the PSC to provide operational leadership to the PSC team leaders, support our teams to implement a clear communication and engagement strategy and manage RTT performance.  

You must have proven experience of management and leadership, with excellent communications skills and the ability to solve problems.  
As someone who is a people person, you will have a  good understanding of the NHS and will work closely with the Operations Manager, Access Manager, and other Deputy PSC Managers to deliver operational service targets targets and you will work flexibly across Royal South Hants and University Hospital Southampton.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities



  • You will work closely with the PSC Operations Manager to build and maintain relationships with Care Groups as well as facilitating solutions to major problems that may arise in the provision of service.

  • You will play a key part in the delivery and maintenance of the effective daily operation of the Patient Services Centre.

  • You will line manage a group of PSC Team Leaders, taking responsibility for their training and development and that of their teams.


  • You to have a first degree/equivalent professional qualification or relevant experience in a leadership role

  • You to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • You to have the ability to lead, motivate and delegate

  • Ability to prioritise and deliver agreed objectives within tight deadlines

  • Ability to facilitate and implement policy, procedure and projects from initiation to completion
  • Sound knowledge of national RTT and local waiting time targets
  • Experience of complex staff rosters
  • Experience as a medical administrator in a customer focused environment

  • Ability to demonstrate a good understanding of the changing NHS environment
  • Good information analysis skills and IT literacy (MS Office)

  • Ability to lead, motivate, delegate and to be a team player
  • Articulate, with the ability to network and build relationships at all levels
