The University Hospital Southampton, NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) are looking for an experienced and proficient clinical IT systems tester.  Someone also with leadership skills and project management experience  with IT and systems integration knowledge to join the Pathology department. 

About the team:

The Pathology department at has a successful record of managing its current Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)  and  integrating with other Trust clinical systems and other service partner systems. We now have a new LIMS scheduled for implementation from late 2021 and into 2022, with other projects timeframe beyond eg Genomics system.

This role is being offered on a fixed-term basis for 18 months.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

What you will do:

The role of Pathology Project Lead Tester is one that manages and leads on the core clinical service testing for our Trust and requires knowledge of UHS Digital core systems and Informatics.

We also have other clinical systems which need integration and will need a UAT acceptance plan for our LIMS and indeed other clinical systems projects in Pathology likewise

We are ideally but not exclusively looking for an individual who:

Has experience in delivering and leading systems testing
Can set appropriate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) records to a high standard
Can manage UAT teams

Has experience of working in a wider trust working with an EPR and digital services

Has a good understanding of project management

Is a team player working with IT technical, supplier and laboratory service user within projects
Understands business process redesign and benefits

What you will do:

Suitable applicants will have comprehensive knowledge and experience of leading and managing systems testing in the contexts described. You will need to have proven experience of delivering projects and presenting complex information throughout this to both internal and external stakeholders.

You will be competent in all Microsoft packages and have experience in various stages of application testing.

Essential criteria
  • Degree or equivalent specialist knowledge and experience
  • Evidence of recent further professional development
  • Significant knowledge of digital systems, systems configuration and data definitions
  • Strong understanding of project management
  • Demonstrable IT training ability
Desirable criteria
  • Working knowledge of more than one improvement technique
  • Prince 2 practitioner qualification
  • Software testing qualification
