We’re looking for an experienced and enthusiastic individual to join  University Hospital Southampton as a Band 5 Biomedical Scientist. This is an exciting opportunity to broaden your experience, working in a modern and well-equipped laboratory on a Fix Term contract until December 2021. The ideal candidates will be able to start in December 2020 or January 2021. 

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Initial training will be in clinical biochemistry, with future pathology training given as required by the needs of the service.
  • You will make critical decisions about workflow
  • You will perform complex manual testing of specialist samples
  • You will contribute to providing a high quality service which consistently delivers on its turnaround times for critical samples.
  • Maintaining laboratory equipment
  • Communicating with service users
  • Completing pre-analytical tasks
  • You will be required to work shifts on earlies, evenings, weekends, and Public holidays as rostered.
  • There may be occasions where you will be asked to work a night shift due to work loads

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR  

  • HCPC registered is desirable
  • Have experience within blood sciences especially Biochemistry
  • An excellent communicator
  • Well organised
  • Enthusiastic and self-motivated
  • Flexible and willing to adapt
  • Ready to take a multi-disciplinary approach to healthcare delivery
