Online applications are invited for a part time (2PA) locum post for a consultant in respiratory paediatrics. This is for an initial period of 1 year with the possibility of this becoming a substantive post from then on. This role could be undertaken alongside the senior clinical fellow in sleep and long term ventilation (8 hours) advertised concurrently for individuals wishing to work full-time.

Online applications are invited for the above post at Southampton Children’s Hospital, University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust. This post is a part time (2PA) locum post.

The Trust is a major teaching centre for the University of Southampton providing a paediatric respiratory service for the local population of Southampton as well as providing a comprehensive tertiary service to the Wessex region and further afield. All major paediatric specialities are also provided including allergy, cardiology, ENT, gastroenterology, urology, nephrology, neonatology (level 3), neurology and neurosurgery, orthopaedics (including spinal), paediatric intensive care, paediatric and neonatal surgery, diabetes, endocrinology, radiology and oncology/haematology. The hospital offers ample opportunities for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and excellent facilities for research and clinical care.

We are looking for a colleague who can on a part time basis help support the existing service thus allowing another respiratory colleague to establish new services at a local hospice. The successful candidate will work closely with the respiratory consultants and multidisciplinary team to provide expert care for children with respiratory disease.

Applications should have a CCT in respiratory paediatrics or be on the GMC’s Specialist Register.  Applicants who are within six months of obtaining their CST are also invited to apply.  Where equivalent qualifications and experience are being offered, it is essential that candidates provide confirmation of this from the relevant College or Faculty in the United Kingdom, and attach the confirmation to their application.

When applying, please remember to include your CCT date in the membership of professional bodies section of the online application form, which is where you must also record your GMC number.

Please note that GMC registration (with a licence to practice) and right to work in the UK are essential for this role.  Successful applicants will already have GMC registration or will be able to demonstrate they are eligible.  Applicants requiring Tier 2 sponsorship should ensure they meet the Home Office application criteria prior to submitting an application.

  • seventh in the country for staff engagement
  • fourth best nationally for our proportion of staff saying that they would recommend the hospital as a place to work or to receive care
