Online applications are invited to apply for a senior fellow in paediatric emergency medicine commencing as soon as possible. We have two posts available and they are fixed term for 6 months with a possible extension to 12 months.

This post is to join the middle-grade rota in the brand new children’s emergency department, which is due to open later this year. Initially, the department will be a standalone emergency department, with the expectation that the planned co-located short-stay unit will open early in 2019.

What you will do

The successful applicant will be on a middle-grade rota – providing advice to junior doctors while being supported by a large cohort of consultants. The applicants would be expected to be competent to manage acutely ill and injured children as the most senior doctor in the area.

The post will involve looking after medically unwell children as well as injured children. When the short stay unit is collocated, then the post holders would be expected to manage this area, with appropriate consultant support.

What we can offer you

Experience can be provided in procedural sedation, pre-hospital care. The trust also has a very strong record in supporting fellowships for quality improvement, education, research and other areas of interest. We are a recognised PERUKI site and are proactive in participating in studies. The department is a level 1 major trauma centre for adults and children and fully accredited for paediatric emergency medicine training for both adult and paediatric trainees.

This is an exciting opportunity for a trainee from paediatrics, paediatric emergency medicine or emergency medicine to work in this busy children’s emergency department.
