Southampton Eye Unit is the regional referral centre for complex medical retinal problems in Hampshire.
The unit is very well equiped for retinal imaging and electrophysiology with multiple retinal cameras (Optos, Heidelberg, Topcon).
You will join a vibrant medical retinal team including 8 medical retinal consultants, three specialist doctors, three retinal fellows and a clinical trial research team.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
To provide medical retina clinics (including AMD, diabetes, retinal vein occlusions and uveitis), intravitreal injections and cataract surgery. The holder may lead clinics at other UHS sites ensuring smooth operation and team working with the nursing, allied, and administration staff supporting these sites.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
The ideal candidate will hold FRCOphth or equivalent qualification and hold full GMC registration with a licence to practice. They will have experience in treating medical retinal conditions and interpretation of investigations, for example, OCT and fluorescein angiography. Experience in providing intravitreal injections and a diabetic laser is desirable.
Individuals wishing to apply must be fully registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) and should be either already on or within 6 months of eligibility to be included on the specialist register of the GMC.
The successful candidate will be employed under the terms and conditions of service for Consultants (England) 2003.
Salary £82,096 - £110,683
