Job overview

Applicants are invited for two 12 month posts of senior vitreoretinal fellow at the Southampton Eye Unit. The timetable for each post is available to view on the attached job descriptions; one will include participation in the general on call rota.

The posts will provide the applicants with a broad grounding in the diagnosis and management of retinal disease. You will have the opportunity to attend 4-5 vitreoretinal theatre sessions per week and to be trained by three consultant Vitreoretinal surgeons. There is an active academic interest within the department and the successful applicant would be given the opportunity to do clinical research.

The Vitreoretinal team is led by 3 consultant ophthalmologists and supported by 2 senior fellows and a trainee. The service has recently expanded with offsite virtual VR clinics and has a high throughput of VR surgical cases with plans to start operating in more off-site locations.
