We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic and motivated research nurse who delivers high quality, patient centred care to join our GI oncology clinical research team, based at Southampton General Hospital. This role will provide regular contact with patients and their families and will involve research that will make a real difference to future patient care.
Previous clinical research and/or oncology experience is desirable but not essential. You will need to be flexible, have an excellent level of written and verbal communication skills and good IT skills. The ability to project manage and problem-solve in order to guide and support the team would also be advantageous.
The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of the research process including screening and recruiting patients to drug trials, coordinating patient treatment alongside the in-patient nursing team, data collection and documentation, and education for both professionals and families.
University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) is one of England's largest acute teaching trusts. We've recently been rated ‘Good’ by the CQC and in the latest national NHS Staff Survey we ranked seventh in the country for staff engagement, and fourth best nationally for our proportion of staff saying that they would recommend the hospital as a place to work or to receive care. One of our main objectives has been to become a top ten research trust, with the pharmacy department being an integral part of achieving this.
Southampton is an attractive place to live and work situated on the south coast, with an international airport and only an hour on the train from central London. The New Forest National Park and the beaches of the Jurassic coast are also right on our doorstep.
The city offers living costs 20% lower than those in London, 13 schools rated outstanding by Ofsted and 13 nearby green spaces to enjoy.
Closing date for applications Thursday 18 October.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
