We are looking to recruit two established band 7 Advanced Clinical Practitioners at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) for our Stroke & Spinal services (Please specify your speciality of choice in your application).
Our team of committed and dynamic practitioners act as advisors for all members of the multidisciplinary team; offering support to both nurses and junior doctors. In light of this our ever expanding team are looking to provide additional support and expertise which will benefit both the patient in terms of continuity and quality of care and our junior doctors’ working hours, including the workload of our nurses.
We have a robust competency program in place set within the HEE guidelines for advanced clinical practice allowing nurses to develop their knowledge and skills within a protected environment, whilst also providing a structure to the role of nurse practitioner.
To perform at an advanced level within the four broad based competencies of advanced nursing practice (Health Education England 2017)
Expert clinical practice
Leadership and management, in order to improve and transform services.
Research – application of existing research and contributing to new research within chosen speciality.
Education and Development of self and others.
The Advanced Clinical Practitioner will practice independently as a core member of the Medical Team; you will have responsibility for the medical management of a defined patient or client group under guidance of the Consultant responsible for the care episode.
You will demonstrate a high level of competence in specific areas of knowledge, nursing expertise, health assessment and clinical decision-making.
You will provide specialist advice, education and support to patients, their carers and other health care professionals.
You will practice clinically within agreed care protocols; these will be monitored by the Designated Medical Lead / Practitioner
You will advise and support the Care Group management team regarding overall service strategy and future development of the service.
The post holder will work across professional, departmental and Trust boundaries as required to develop and support patient-centred seamless care, with particular responsibility for leading nurse-led care initiatives
To be successful in your application you will need to demonstrate the ability to autonomously manage acutely ill patients in diverse clinical environments. Diplomacy, excellent communication skills and a critical care qualification are essential to this role.
