We are looking to recruit two Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioners at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) within our Stroke & Spinal services (Please specify your speciality of choice in your application). You will need to have a high level of experience in acute clinical practice at band 5 Level/equivalent and have sound clinical knowledge whilst also demonstrating managerial and leadership abilities. Trainee practitioners will be expected to complete an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice (Advanced Clinical Practitioner) under the support and guidance of our medical colleagues.
Our team of committed and dynamic practitioners act as advisors for all members of the multidisciplinary team; offering support to both nurses and junior doctors. In light of this our ever expanding team are looking to provide additional support and expertise which will benefit both the patient in terms of continuity and quality of care and our junior doctors’ working hours, including the workload of our nurses.
We have a robust competency program in place set within the HEE guidelines for advanced clinical practice allowing Nurses to develop their knowledge and skills within a protected environment, whilst also providing a structure to the role of nurse practitioner.
As a Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner you are expected to work in conjunction with the 4 pillars of Advanced Practice (HEE Framework Oct 2017)
Expert clinical practice
Leadership and management, in order to improve and transform services.
Research – application of existing research and contributing to new research within chosen speciality.
Education and Development of self and others.
You will work as a Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner under the supervision of the Advanced Clinical Practitioner or Designated Medical Practitioner (DMP)
You will practice clinically within agreed care protocols; these will be monitored by the Designated Medical Lead / Practitioner
This role involves undertaking competency based patient assessment and examination in order to formulate a management plan for specific groups of patients admitted to UHS for diagnosis and / or treatments.
The post holder will work across professional, departmental and Trust boundaries as required to develop and support patient-centred seamless care, with particular responsibility for participating in nurse-led care initiatives.
