Post Title –  Neonatal Clinical Fellow (ST4 and above equivalent)

Start Date of Post –  March 2018

Contract Length – Fixed Term for 6 months

 

Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Fellow (ST4 and above) in Neonatology to run from March 2018 for six months in the first instance. Opportunities for an extension or a rotation to another Paediatric speciality (PICU, Cardiology) may be available to suitable applicants.

 

We are looking for an enthusiastic person to join our busy Tertiary Level Neonatal Care team.

 

The UHS Neonatal Service based at the Princess Anne Hospital offers the full range of Neonatal Intensive Care facilities and provides the Network Neonatal Transport Service (SONeT). The Tertiary Fetal Medicine, Neonatal Surgery & Neonatal Cardiology services are supported by the Neonatal Service. There are approximately 6200 deliveries per year in the hospital and many of these are ‘High risk’ deliveries. The Neonatal Unit has 38 cots, 24 Intensive and High Care and 14 Special Care cots. Referrals for specialist care are received from surrounding hospitals. UHS is a lead centre within the Wessex Neonatal Network and provides the full range of sub speciality services.

 

The post would be particularly suitable for trainees who are looking to increase their Neonatal experience (particularly Level 3) towards the end of their CCST qualification period or who have neonatal experience gained abroad and wish to acquire neonatal transport experience or an academic component of their training. There are substantial opportunities for research within the department with particular interests in surfactant composition and turnover, growth & nutrition and longer term outcomes and neurology (neonatal MRI and developmental outcome programmes). We would expect the post holder to have a minimum of 12 months tertiary level neonatal experience at registrar level and ideally some further experience in neonates.

 

The post holder will be encouraged to take part in the wide range of educational and training opportunities within the department that is a recognised centre in the National Grid for Higher Specialist Training in Neonatology. While these posts are not recognised formally as training posts by the Wessex Deanery it is anticipated that the educational opportunities available will match those of our recognised training posts.

Senior Trust Fellow

 

Appointment will be made under Local Contractual Terms and Conditions of Service for Trust Appointed (Non-Training Fellow Doctors and Dentists) which will be published and available at time of offers.

 

Grades for Trust appointed (non-training) Fellows will be paid a basic salary at a Nodal pay point linked to the grade, at the rate set out in the National Medical and Dental pay circular. Basic salary detailed below plus any additional remuneration (as applicable) for hours set out in the doctors work schedule (e.g additional hours, weekend allowance, and any hours which attract enhanced pay)

 

Basic Salary MT04        £46,208
