Job overview

An opportunity has arisen to join a busy, friendly team at the University Hospital Southampton, NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) within the Linen & Post Service Department. This position can be applied for as an Apprenticeship and is on a 18-month fixed contract.

You will be responsible for helping to provide a full internal delivery of Linen or Post items within the Trust at the weekend.

ABOUT THE TEAM

Operating hours are 07.30 to 15:30 Monday to Friday – Full time hours 37.5 hrs

To work as part of a team providing an efficient and cost effective uniform and sewing room service throughout the Trust.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Provide a full uniform fitting service to Trust staff members

To repair or alter Trust uniforms and any other items held by individual departments.

To ensure that uniforms are issued in the agreed volumes and colours approved by the trust.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Customer focused individual with excellent communication skills and the ability to work well under pressure, and a desire to provide a first class service.

Knowledge of operating a sewing machine would be an advantage.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Good standard of education with literacy and numeracy skills GCSE pass level 4-9
  • Committed to the completion of the apprenticeship qualification
Desirable criteria
  • Courses/further study attended to demonstrate evidence of personal development
  • Operate Sewing Machine

Experience

Desirable criteria
  • Experience in working in a busy environment
  • Perform basic repairs & alternations to uniforms
  • Working as part of a team
