An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Integrated discharge bureau at Southampton Hospital. A full time senior discharge officer is invited to join our complex discharge team, to manage a caseload of patients who have complex discharge requirements and a small team of discharge officers who would assist you in this role.

As a senior discharge officer you will be based on the wards liaising with ward staff but also within the Integrated discharge bureau where you would be working in partnership with social services, care home finders, nurses, community teams and administrative staff.

As a senior discharge officer you will need to be a registered nurse, occupational therapist or physiotherapist and have a keen interest in the discharge process. You will be expected to have excellent communication and negotiation skills. In return we can offer you the opportunity to develop your management skills and gain a wider knowledge with regards to discharge planning in health and social care.

The hours are 37.5 over Monday to Friday, with an expectation that you will contribute to the weekend working rota.
