We’re looking for a range of highly experienced software developers to support the clinical systems within the Trust’s Electronic Patient Record platform. Working across programmes such as complex decision support, diagnostics, treatments, safer care, escalation, machine learning and AI, you’ll have the ambition, tenacity, foresight and desire to want to make a difference to patient care delivery.

ABOUT THE TEAM

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) holds the status of Global Centre of Digital Excellence, and is leading an exciting programme to become paperless as a digital exemplar trust. We’re utilising additional investment from NHS England to boost our informatics strategy, modernise our IT infrastructure. This enables us to deliver pioneering applications to support patient care and medical research not only at UHS, but as a leader across the local health economy.

We’re in the middle of writing a new digital strategy for the trust to set our goals for the next five years, and so this is a great time to be joining the organisation to help contribute to and deliver that strategy.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

We’re looking for a range of specialist software developers and product experts to support and deliver complex systems used throughout the Trust for the delivery of patient care.

In these roles you’ll:

  • Work as part of a team, developing complex clinical applications that support the best patient care
  • Ensure our systems are maintained and fully supported so that our staff know they can be relied upon 24/7
  • Help maintain the Trust’s Global Digital Exemplar status by innovating and challenging the status quo – we seek the extraordinary not the ordinary

You will use your knowledge and skills to help us develop and integrate with the best healthcare products available, using open standards to support interconnectivity and mobilisation.

Applicants must be willing to participate in on-call support rosters.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for dynamic software developers with extensive experience of working on complex healthcare applications. We’ll be looking for you to demonstrate experience in:

  • Agile development/Scrum management/Capacity planning
  • Programming/4GL
  • Web development (ASP.net, C#, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, Classic ASP, VB6,VBScript, AJAX)
  • Windows Web Servers, Linux (Ubuntu), IIS, Oracle, MS SQL Server, Team Foundation Server, JIRA, Trello, Visual Studio, Git, Gerrit Code Review.
  • Interfacing/Integration (HL7, Web services, Rest, XML, JSON, XSLT, Integration Engines – Mirth Connect and Intersystems Healthshare/Ensemble)

These posts require the candidate to undertake a practical skills test that will be conducted on site at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust. The candidate MUST have the ability to attend in person and the subsequent panel interview. We are unable to offer the practical test or the interview over the internet.
