IT and Technical Support Technician – COVID19 Saliva Testing Programme
Fixed Term Contract until 31st December 2021
Southampton has been running a Covid-19 saliva testing programme in partnership between the University of Southampton, Southampton City Council and University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS). As part of the preparation for the expansion of the asymptomatic testing programme across the geographical region, we are recruiting a number of staff to support this programme.
We are currently recruiting for IT and Technical Support Technicians to work supporting the team driving asymptomatic saliva testing across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. Reporting to the Laboratory IT and Information Manager, you will provide onsite technical support within the laboratory to ensure the smooth running and functionality of its IT and technical requirements. The post holder will be required to:
Successful candidates need to be able to demonstrate expert level of understanding of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and a sound knowledge of applications to enable reporting and complex data extraction as needed. You will be able to show that you have provided excellent support to your customers, providing training as necessary, utilising analytical thinking to resolve issues quickly, and in keeping them informed and updated as required.
The laboratory will be open 6 days per week; 16 hours per day, so there will need to be some flexibility in working hours / cover, which may include on call cover.
