What we’re looking for

Our top priority is finding the right type of person who shares our values of Patients First, Working Together, and Always Improving.

We are looking for individuals with the ability and attitude to grow and develop into a valued member of our team. Whatever level of skill or experience you currently have, if you are able to demonstrate drive and potential, our comprehensive induction and in-house training teams will help you to reach your full potential.

We’d love to hear from you if you are:

  • Eager to develop clinical skills

  • Motivated and forward thinking

  • Looking for a challenge within a busy working environment

  • Wishing to be part of a first-class team delivering a high-quality service

All applicants MUST be fully flexible to cover a variety of shifts including early, late, long days and nights – as our services operate 24 hours, 365 days a year.

 Where we’re recruiting

We are recruiting across all our sites, including Southampton General Hospital, Princess Anne Hospital and Countess Mountbatten House and there are opportunities available across many of our patient services, including (but not limited to):

  • Theatres

  • Eye unit

  • Trauma and orthopaedics

  • Neurology

  • Medicine for older people

Please note that we currently have very limited opportunities within our paediatric services, so you may wish to consider an alternative area when making your application.

Why should you come to work for UHS?

We actively support career pathways and your personal development by offering NVQ and apprenticeship opportunities to those with the ability, attitude, and desire to grow and develop their healthcare career.

We provide a supportive and comprehensive induction process to enable you to complete your care certificate, find your feet within the organisation, and quickly integrate into our team.

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is one of England's largest acute teaching trusts and we are delighted to have recently been rated ‘Good’ by the CQC. In the latest national NHS Staff Survey we ranked;

  • seventh in the country for staff engagement

  • fourth best nationally for our proportion of staff saying that they would recommend the hospital as a place to work or to receive care

 Selection and assessment process

We hold recruitment evenings on a weekly basis; if your application is successful, we’ll contact you to book you an interview date and time. We only have a limited number of spaces available so attendance is by invitation only

The first stage of our selection process will involve a short interview and if you are successful at this stage, we will then send you an invite you to our next selection day with full instructions and details of what to expect.

To begin the process, please complete our application form below.
