Job overview

We are proud of our successful international recruitment programme at the University Hospital Southampton, NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) and we have an exciting opportunity for a recruiter to join our team on a 12-month fixed term contract. If you have previous experience in an HR or recruitment role and are able to manage a diverse and ever changing workload, we’d love to receive your application.

Our international recruitment team manages an ongoing programme of nurse recruitment both through direct hiring and supported by agencies. We also support many other individuals coming to work at UHS from overseas though the application, offer and immigration process. Support continues when individuals arrive in the UK with pastoral care and sourcing accommodation.

Main duties of the job

You can read an overview of the main duties of the role in the section below: Job Description and Main Responsibilities.

To understand the role in more detail please read the full job description and person specification documents attached.

Working for our organisation

As one of the largest acute teaching Trusts in England, we offer learning and development opportunities to help you achieve the career you aspire to. UHS is rated ‘Good’ by the CQC and in the latest national NHS Staff Survey, we were in the top 10 acute trusts for staff engagement and for staff recommending the hospital as a place to work or receive care.

We support flexible working and will consider requests taking into account the needs of the service. UHS employees are able to access a range of NHS discounts, are entitled to a minimum of 35 days paid holiday (pro rata), and we offer a generous pension scheme.

Southampton is an attractive place to live and work situated on the south coast, with an international airport and direct trains to London. The New Forest National Park and beaches of the Jurassic coast are also right on our doorstep. The city offers living costs 20% lower than London and 14 schools rated outstanding by Ofsted.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

You will be responsible for coordinating the end-to-end recruitment process from sourcing candidates through to providing support to the individuals when they arrive in the UK and start work at UHS.

This will include

  • Reviewing applications and telephone screening
  • Managing the interview and offer process
  • Proactive management of candidates, communicating with them through all aspects of the recruitment process and advising on NHS employment checks and immigration requirements.
  • Supporting with arranging accommodation and additional support required in line with current COVID quarantine processes.
  • Meeting individuals on arrival and supporting with induction
  • Being the first point of contact for international recruitment enquiries and managing a busy email account to ensure accurate and timely responses.

We are open Monday to Friday 8am-6pm and some flexibility will be required for supporting with individuals who arrive in the UK outside of core hours.

This role will be a combination of both on site and home working.

You will need to have previous experience in a proactive recruitment environment and have excellent communication skills.

Experience of international recruitment and UK visas and immigration processes would be ideal but not essential.

We are looking for someone who can adapt to changing processes and is committed to ensuring that all our internationally recruited staff have a positive experience throughout their entire recruitment journey.

You’ll be delivering a proactive, customer focused recruitment service in an ever changing environment, and as such, you’ll need to have excellent communication skills, be flexible and be committed to providing a first class service to our candidates.

Interviews will be held on Wednesday, 21 April 2021
