Our multi-professional team is leading the way in providing high-quality, educated care for the general surgical patient. We provide a career development pathway (CDP) for trained nurses from band 5 to band 7 - and you could be a part of that.

About our general surgery team

Our team consists of healthcare assistants, specialist associate practitioners, staff nurses, junior and senior sisters/charge nurses, and is lead by two matrons who strive for high-quality patient care and are committed to investing in you. We embrace innovative thinking here in general surgery and are looking for motivated, enthusiastic individuals, who are also keen team players to join our general surgery team.

Our strategy is one of delivering and being part of a proud and professional workforce, striving for excellence in customer care, staff satisfaction, and patient experience.

Our specialities consist of UGI, LGI, HPB, Urology, Intestinal Specialist Unit, Head & Neck including Head & Neck Assessment, Acute Surgery consisting of our Surgery ED and Acute Admissions Short Stay. CQC Rated in 2017 as Good achieving this through all domains.

What we're looking for

We're looking for you to be be energetic and forward thinking, have the courage to challenge and demonstrate commitment to the care group’s strategy. You'll need to demonstrate continuing professional development and have an understanding of how to improve and provide safe, quality care for patients and their relatives.

What we can offer you

We provide a structured programme of clinical skills, managerial and leadership development for you to access. Included in our CDP is the Principles of Surgical Nurse course (POSN), affiliated with the University of Southampton – this course is the first in the UK specifically designed for surgical nurses. Throughout the CDP we support academic development at level 6 and level 7.
