We are looking for a qualified and experienced Maintenance Technician (Mechanical Specialist) to join the Estates Maintenance team at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS).

Qualified in an appropriate mechanical discipline and with a clear focus on quality and customer service you will be working in a team of Electricians and Mechanical Fitters working on the Trust’s healthcare specific plant and equipment that supports the delivery of world class healthcare here at Southampton General Hospital.

ABOUT THE TEAM

Estates, Facilities and Capital Developments (EFCD) is a complex division providing both estate and facilities services across the Trust. This includes engineering and building maintenance, project developments, compliance governance, clinical engineering, parking and transport, waste management and linen services as well as contracted cleaning and catering service provision.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

You will be working on a range of complex building services plant ranging from Theatre AHUs to steam and pressure systems. You will deal with the more complex maintenance issue in the hospital. Running small projects and working with our contractors. Our technicians also have a role in training our apprentices and passing on knowledge to other members of the team

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

You will have:

  • ONC/HNC or equivalent examined qualification in a Mechanical Engineering related field

  • Relevant experience of mechanical maintenance works

  • Experience of working with directly employed labour and contractors in the delivery of reactive and planned maintenance

  • Be able to empathise with the needs and requirements of patients and the clinical staff supporting them
