An exciting opportunity has arisen at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) as the medical assistant and Phlebotomy service are looking to expand their team by recruiting a Phlebotomist.
The AMU is a 54 bedded unit with its own discharge lounge. There are a number of different areas within AMU, from a seven bedded high observation area, to dedicated male and female areas with private side rooms. This is a busy, fast paced area aiming for a turnaround time of up to 72 hours before patients are discharged or moved to a specialist medical ward.
You will work over a wide variety of settings and clinical areas and as such will need to be an effective communicator. You will need to be flexible and cover a full range of shifts as our team provides 24 hour service to the division.
A phlebotomist’s role is to provide a high quality phlebotomy and cannulation service that offers the best possible standards of patient care to inpatients and any other area requiring venesection/cannulation services. You will assist in the provision of individualised care, under the supervision of a qualified nurse and others in the health care professional team.
