An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 4 Deputy Admin Manager to provide administrative support for the care Group Management team and various admin staff within Emergency Care including the Emergency Department and the Acute Medical Unit, Division B at University Hospital of Southampton.

ABOUT THE TEAM

The Emergency Department is a major trauma centre providing care to approximately 320 patients a day with a mixture of major trauma, majors assessment and treatment area and minor injuries. The department also has an enhanced care suite dedicated to those patients experiencing a mental health crisis. The ED prides itself on delivering high quality patient centred care in a fast paced environment.

The acute medical unit (AMU) sits within emergency medicine; division B. The AMU is a fast-paced 54 bedded, mixed sex acute medical ward, taking admissions directly from the emergency department, local GPs, and in some cases other hospitals. The AMU treats patients during their most acute medical phase of their stay and its aim is to treat, discharge, or transfer to a specialist ward within 48hrs of admission. Admissions to the AMU account for approximately one third of all UHS emergency admissions and during the winter it is not uncommon to change out all 54 beds with new admissions in a 48-hour period.
