Are you interested in Isolation care? Do you want to make a difference to the lives of our patients? Then we want to hear from you!
In 2014 we opened our low-risk, state-of-the-art isolation unit – D10 which is a brand new unit with 18 beds and caters for adult patients of any age with low risk infections such as MRSA. It's an exciting development that will see us deliver world-class infection prevention practice.
In short, we want this pioneering development to be the best and that is why we want you to join us and add to the team of nursing professionals who'll make it reality. We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated and dynamic band 5 staff nurses to join our team.
Your goal will be to make every patient's experience in isolation as positive as it possibly can be – and we'll ensure that you have all the resources, facilities and support to achieve that. We've not just made a big investment in this new unit. We'll make a big investment in you too.
The successful candidate will need to be flexible, passionate and open to challenges and to learning new skills as part of an expanding and enthusiastic multi-disciplinary team.
The post holder will also need to be able to have attention to detail, outstanding customer service skills and a positive, patient-centred approach and have excellent organisational and communication skills.
We require enthusiastic candidates who have a keen understanding of our trust values and what makes us great! In return you will be offered opportunities to develop both clinically and professionally within a supportive environment. These will be delivered through our bespoke education and training programmes, our dedicated in house education team and our strong links with the University of Southampton.
In return, we want you to play your part in shaping how we deliver truly individual care. So you will definitely need to bring vision and fresh ideas and be willing to learn.
Flexibility to work the full range of shifts within a 24 hour shift pattern is essential, however we are happy to review shift flexibility to ensure work life balance.
Please use the contact details below if you would like to find out more about the unit and our team. Informal visits are welcome and encouraged.
About University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust:
University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) is one of England's largest acute teaching trusts. We've recently been rated ‘Good’ by the CQC and in the latest national NHS Staff Survey we ranked seventh in the country for staff engagement, and fourth best nationally for our proportion of staff saying that they would recommend the hospital as a place to work or to receive care. One of our main objectives has been to become a top ten research trust, with the pharmacy department being an integral part of achieving this.
Staff can access discounts for local facilities such as local gyms and national discounts on everything from holidays to electricals. We have two nurseries that staff can use, one based on the Southampton General Hospital site (for UHS employees only) and one at the Western Community Hospital site (rated outstanding by Ofsted). Our modern, purpose-built nurseries provide regular childcare to children aged three months to school and have extended opening hours to help fit in with your schedule.
Southampton is an attractive place to live and work situated on the south coast, with an international airport and only an hour on the train from central London. The New Forest National Park and the beaches of the Jurassic Coast are also right on our doorstep. The city offers living costs 20% lower than those in London, 13 schools rated outstanding by Ofsted and 13 nearby green spaces to enjoy.
Closing date for applications Wednesday 17 October.
