Online applications are invited for a full time post as a junior fellow in intensive care medicine from 1st August 2018. This post is fixed term for 6 months.

 

There will be opportunities to work in both the GICU and SHDU teams here at UHS. Opportunities can be discussed at interview and arrangements made to fulfil training needs.

The post will provide training and experience in all aspects of intensive care medicine in a large multidisciplinary unit admitting approximately 1500 patients per year. The Intensive Care Unit at Southampton General Hospital provides critical care services for a wide range of specialities including General Surgery, General Medicine, Trauma, Vascular and Thoracic Surgery. The unit is recognised for training by the intercollegiate board for training in ICM at all levels including the CCT programme.

This post is intended for junior fellows who wish to gain experience in the management of level 3 and level 2 patients in an intensive care unit. Preference will be given to those who have previous experience in intensive care medicine and anaesthesia.

Please note that GMC registration (with a licence to practice) and right to work in the UK are essential for this role.  Successful applicants will already have GMC registration or will be able to demonstrate they are eligible.  Applicants requiring Tier 2 sponsorship should ensure they meet the Home Office application criteria prior to submitting an application. 

Appointment will be made under local contractual terms and conditions of service for Trust appointed (non-training fellow doctors and dentists) which will be published and available at time of offers.

Grades for Trust appointed (non-training) fellows will be paid a basic salary at a nodal pay point linked to the grade, at the rate set out in the National Medical and Dental pay circular. Basic salary detailed below plus any additional remuneration (as applicable) for hours set out in the doctors work schedule (e.g. additional hours, weekend allowance, and any hours which attract enhanced pay)
