An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen for a Physiotherapist working within our Obstetrics and Gynaecology Physiotherapy team, as part of our established Therapy service at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS).

The service which is based within the Princess Anne Hospital on the UHS site, is recognised as a regional centre of excellence. As a combined Therapy Department, employing over 200 WTE Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and B2-4 Therapy support staff, we pride ourselves on delivering high quality Therapy intervention across a wide range of acute and outpatient settings.

We are looking for a dynamic physiotherapist with Assessment and treatment skills within this particular area of speciality and a passion for providing high standards of patient care, to join our friendly, supportive therapy team. The role involves a mixed case load of predominantly outpatient activity including obstetrics, gynaecology, urogynaecology and parent education, as well as treatment and advice to relevant inpatients. Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team is therefore essential.

This role would suit a physiotherapist with some previous experience working within Women’s Health Physiotherapy at either Band 5 or 6 level and would like to utilise this role to progress their career in this hugely rewarding speciality.

We will provide regular support and supervision from an experienced team of Specialist Physiotherapists and well established MDT, as well as both participation and attendance of our In-service training programme.

Education, audit and service improvement are at the heart of our team’s ethos. As such educating and supervising other staff and students from local Universities, naturally forms an integral aspect of all roles within the department.

UHS shows a strong commitment to investing in the health and well-being of all its staff members, through our highly successful “live-well and inspire” program. This provides such benefits as access to weight management programs, health screening, free self referral physiotherapy service, discounted gym and class memberships, amongst other measures.

We have excellent links with the University of Southampton and support our commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate study. We would also look to support the applicant should they wish to pursue further training in relevant clinical areas.

Currently the department offers appointments Mon-Fri between 7.30am and 4:00pm.

We are looking for enthusiastic and dynamic individuals who are able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, are able to work effectively within our team and can evidence their involvement in service improvement, teaching and audit as well as the relevant clinical experience.

As one of the largest acute teaching Trust’s in England, we can offer learning and development opportunities to help you achieve the career you aspire to. We believe you deserve the best possible surroundings in which to do your job and we want to support you in doing your job to the best of your ability.

As a Trust, we support flexible working and will consider requests taking into account the needs of the service. You’ll have an opportunity to discuss this at interview. Our LiveWell and inspire programme offers opportunities, support and advice, including smoking cessation services, exercise and activity classes, and support for mental health.

UHS employees are able to access a huge range of NHS discounts, are entitled to a minimum of 35 days paid holiday (pro rata) on appointment, can access on-site nursery facilities (subject to availability), and we offer a generous pension scheme.

UHS is rated ‘Good’ by the CQC and in the latest national NHS Staff Survey, we were in the top 10 acute trusts for staff engagement and for staff recommending the hospital as a place to work or receive care.

Southampton is an attractive place to live and work situated on the south coast, with an international airport and only an hour on the train from central London. The New Forest National Park and the beaches of the Jurassic coast are also right on our doorstep. The city offers living costs 20% lower than those in London, 13 schools rated outstanding by Ofsted and 13 nearby green spaces to enjoy.

Interviews will be held on Friday, 13 March 2020.
