We are looking for a HCPC registered Biomedical scientist to join our UKAS accredited department of laboratory medicine. This is an exciting opportunity to further broaden your experience – working in a modern and well-equipped laboratory, providing an extensive repertoire of investigations.

Initial training will be in clinical biochemistry, with future pathology training given as required by the needs of the service. There is also the opportunity to complete an MSc and to undertake training in other disciplines within laboratory medicine. You will be required to work 37.5 hours per week, including flexible cover of nights, weekends and bank holidays. We will initially be appointing at band 5, however after you have satisfactorily achieved the appropriate competencies, there may be the requirement to join our 24/7 shift system and take on additional responsibilities; at that time the successful candidate will progress to band 6.
The department holds UKAS accreditation and incorporates clinical biochemistry, haematology, blood transfusion, immunology and molecular pathology. Equipment used by the biochemistry team includes Beckman Coulter AU5800s, DxI 800s and a Power Express system; Advanced Instruments A2O osmometer and Northstar Scientific UVIKON XS spectrophotometer.
