How would you like to be part of a regional specialist acute paediatric medical unit?

Do you want to work in a busy caring environment?

Yes - Then this is the job for you!

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Southampton Children’s Hospital on the Paediatric Medical Unit (PMU) for highly motivated, dedicated registered nurses to join our friendly, supportive nursing team.  PMU is a 16 bedded unit catering for babies, children and young people up to the age of 18 and specialises in paediatric medical related conditions ranging from acute to long-term conditions, caring for children with often complex physical and psychological health needs.  PMU accepts tertiary referrals from across the Wessex Network as well as from other areas within the hospital.

The Children’s Hospital offers fantastic training and development opportunities, giving you the best possible platform to achieve the career you want, and PMU has a dedicated Clinical Facilitator to support staff. PMU supports staff development through opportunities to gain speciality skills in areas such as neurology and neuro-rehabilitation; gastroenterology, endocrinology and respiratory complex care such as tracheostomies and non-invasive ventilation.

Applicants’ should have post qualifying experience in a relevant specialty which includes working in an acute paediatric environment.  The applicant will be expected to show good co-ordination and leadership skills participating in ward rounds attending HUDDLE’s and supporting staff. The flexibility to work the full range of shift patterns within a 24 hour shift pattern is essential.

We’ve worked hard as a Trust to make improve the efficiency of our services and as a result, we are currently in financial surplus. We are one of England's largest acute teaching trusts and have recently been rated ‘Good’ by the CQC. Patient care is driven through our values of Patient First, team Working and Always Improving.
