How would you like to be part of a regional paediatric orthopaedic unit?

Do you want to work in a busy caring environment?

We are looking for enthusiastic candidates to join the Children’s Hospital G3 Orthopaedic and Trauma Unit as ward clerk administrators.

Full time or part time hours will be considered. Some weekend shifts may be required along with flexibility to fit with service needs and to cover for leave will be expected.

Our ward clerks are central to the effective functioning of the service, and are located at the heart of the unit. It is a varied role, and you will support families going through often challenging times as well as their visitors, and a large team of nurses, doctors and other staff.

You will carry out a range of general administration tasks; answering telephone queries, ordering stationery, arranging appointments and working with a number of hospital IT systems including medical records.

G3 specialises in orthopaedic and spinal surgery accepting tertiary referrals from across the Wessex Network and is part of the Trust’s Paediatric Trauma Centre; the only one on the south coast.

G3 is a 20 bedded unit catering for those who require orthopaedic surgery and rehabilitation; including specialist spinal surgery, and major trauma patients.  The ward has 2 high dependency beds to support children undergoing spinal surgery.  G3 cares for babies, children and young people up to the age of 18. It also supports a number of medical patients, particularly over busy winter months, giving staff a wide experience and breadth of skills.

You are strongly encouraged to read the job description and person specification fully to gain an understanding of the role and its requirements. Informal enquiries are welcomed and visits can be accommodated.

We’ve worked hard as a Trust to make improve the efficiency of our services and as a result, we are currently in financial surplus. We are one of England's largest acute teaching trusts and have recently been rated ‘Good’ by the CQC. In the latest national NHS Staff Survey we ranked;

  • seventh in the country for staff engagement
  • fourth best nationally for our proportion of staff saying that they would recommend the hospital as a place to work or to receive care
