Online applications are invited for the post of Locum Consultant Paediatric & Neonatal Surgeon at Southampton University Hospital NHS Trust. This is a one year, fixed-term locum appointment to cover maternity leave. The successful applicant will have completed subspecialty training in paediatric surgery.
ABOUT THE TEAM
The post holder will join a team of 7 paediatric and neonatal surgeons and 3 paediatric urologists. The department provides the full range of paediatric and neonatal surgery services to a region of approximately 3 million. All other major paediatric specialities are provided within the Southampton Children’s Hospital including cardiology, intensive care, dermatology, respiratory, ENT, ophthalmology, gastroenterology, urology, nephrology, neonatology (level 3), neurology, orthopaedics (including spinal), paediatric and neonatal surgery, oncology and radiology. The hospital offers ample opportunities for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and excellent facilities for research and clinical care.

We are looking to appoint a well-motivated individual with broad paediatric surgery experience. The department has a strong ethos in education and research and the successful applicant will be expected to contribute to this activity.
Individuals wishing to apply must be fully registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) and should be either already on or within 6 months of eligibility to be included on the specialist register of the GMC.
The successful candidate will be employed under the terms and conditions of service for Consultants (England) 2003.
