Southampton Children’s Hospital and Neonatal Unit have a number of opportunities for Registered Nursing Associate’s (NA) or Associate Practitioners (AP) across different specialties.

A nursing associate and associate practitioner role is an integral part of the nursing team and will provide care and support for patients and service users and is intended to bridge the skills gap between health care assistants and registered nurses.

We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic AP’s/NA’s to join us within the Children’s Hospital, with vacancies across a range of specialities.

About Southampton Children’s Hospital

Southampton Children’s Hospital is part of University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust(UHS), and is one of the biggest Children’s hospitals in the UK, catering for a wide range of specialties. We are a leading paediatric trauma centre and accept referrals from across the Wessex network and beyond. 

We are currently in the process of building our own dedicated paediatric emergency department, as well as a dedicated children’s hospital, bringing all our services under one roof. This development will provide state of the art equipment and deliver world-class healthcare to the children in our region. We currently have over 100 beds catering for the paediatric healthcare needs of our patients over a wide geographical area.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

In this role, you will:

  • Contribute to the provision and monitoring of high quality individualised nursing care in accordance with agreed policies and procedures.

  • Work in a collaborative and co-operative manner.

  • Develop personally and professionally to undertake all aspects of the Band 4 role.

  • Ensure all documentation is recorded in accordance with NMC and Trust standards

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Along with the relevant qualifications, we are looking for you to demonstrate:

  • Knowledge of Nursing procedures and practices

  • Evidence of on-going personal development

  • Completion of a Medicines Management Module as part of your foundation Degree

  • Evidence of working effectively in a team

  • Evidence of patient assessment skills
