How would you like to be part of a regional paediatric hospital working on units specialising in general surgery, nephrology and urology?

Do you want to work in a busy caring environment?

We are looking for enthusiastic candidates to join G4’s surgery, nephrology and urology ward (G4SUN) at Southampton Children’s Hospital.  If you are a highly motivated, dedicated registered nurse we would love for you to join our friendly, supportive nursing teams.

The Children’s Hospital offers fantastic training and development opportunities, with dedicated clinical facilitators on the wards, providing you with the best possible platform to achieve the career you want, with HDU in house training and specialist development days.

G4 is a 20 bedded inpatient ward specialising in surgery, urology & nephrology as well as having a 4 bedded haemodialysis ward.  We care for babies, children and young people up to the age of 18.

In this role, you will:

  • provide a high standard of individualised nursing care
  • communicate effectively with a multi disciplinary team at UHS
  • maintain accurate records of observation, treatment and patient/family care

Along with the relevant qualifications, we are looking for you to demonstrate:

  • evidence of on-going professional development
  • good written and oral communication skills
  • awareness of evidence based practice
  • mentorship experience

The flexibility to work the full range of shift patterns within 24 hours is essential and previous experience as a qualified nurse in a paediatric environment is desirable. The unit would welcome newly qualified nurses also, but applicants would need to apply for these roles through the Children’s Hospital NQN process (see separate NHS jobs advert).

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) is one of England's largest acute teaching trusts. We've recently been rated ‘Good’ by the CQC and in the latest national NHS Staff Survey we ranked seventh in the country for staff engagement, and fourth best nationally for our proportion of staff saying that they would recommend the hospital as a place to work or to receive care.

Why live and work in Southampton City?

Southampton is an attractive place to live and work situated on the south coast, with an international airport and only an hour on the train from central London. The New Forest National Park and the beaches of the Jurassic coast are also right on our doorstep. The city offers living costs 20% lower than those in London, 13 schools rated outstanding by Ofsted and 13 nearby green spaces to enjoy.

We look forward to receiving your applications. For further information please contact Maureen Wiltshire or Lucia Lazzeri-Ford as below.
